The resort

Les Deux Alpes is France's second-oldest resort (after Chamonix), born from the high pastures of Mont-de-Lans and Vénosc — the 'two Alpes' that give it its name. A single-street resort at 1,650 m in the Écrins massif (Isère), it has the only skiable glacier at 3,600 m and the highest point in France, with guaranteed snow from December to May and summer skiing. The new Jandri 3S gondola (2024) takes you from the valley to the glacier in 17 minutes. Reached via Lyon (~2h35) or Grenoble.

The village

A sporty, lively resort with ski-in/ski-out access along an avenue at 1,650 m, strong après-ski and the largest snowpark in the French Alps. Less Savoyard charm than its neighbours, but very high snow, a glacier and the 3 Domaines pass linking Alpe d'Huez and La Grave.
