Skiing in Flachau
Austria · Snow Space Salzburg

43% of the slopes are easy (green and blue) — better for those who already ski.
Plan a ski trip to Flachau with the full price in plain sight, for 2 adults.
The resort
Flachau is the anchor village of Snow Space Salzburg: gondolas rise almost from the centre (~920 m) into a lift-linked chain running from St. Johann-Alpendorf to Zauchensee — 210 km claimed, ~165 km independently measured — without ever taking your skis off. The pass is Ski amadé, one of the best price-per-kilometre deals in the Alps (3 days €482 for 2 adults at the counter, less with online early booking). You fly to Munich (MUC) and drive the A8/A10 to the Flachau exit (~2h20); Salzburg (SZG) is only 55 min away but has no nonstop from Lisbon. There is no rail station in the village: the nearest is Radstadt (ÖBB), with bus 522 or a taxi on to Flachau.

The village
Flachau is a genuine valley village in the Salzburg Pongau and the home town of Hermann Maier — every January the women's World Cup Nightrace floodlights the Hermann Maier Weltcupstrecke (4 January 2027). Austrian family atmosphere with lively après-ski at the valley-station bars (Dampfkessel, Fliegenpilz, Hofstadl), never excessive; Wagrain and Zauchensee are quieter. Cruising terrain par excellence: broad blues and fast reds served by modern high-capacity lifts, the Absolut Park at Flachauwinkl for freestylers and Zauchensee's World Cup pistes for hard-snow days.
