The resort

Samoëns is the only French ski village classified as a Monument Historique, a Baroque Savoyard centre at about 720 m that preserves its square with century-old lime trees, carved-stone houses and a weekly market. It is the authentic gateway to the Grand Massif, one of the largest domains in the Alps with 265 km of pistes linking five villages on a single pass, reached by the Grand Massif Express gondola from the edge of the village up to Samoëns 1600 and the Plateau des Saix. You arrive via Geneva (GVA), about 60 km / 1h by road, by car or transfer.

The village

Unlike the purpose-built concrete satellite resorts — such as neighbouring Flaine — Samoëns is a village that is alive all year round, with local shops, restaurants and stone streets instead of a functional resort. Whoever stays in the village catches the Grand Massif Express to the 265 km of the domain and returns at the end of the day to a genuinely Savoyard atmosphere.
