The resort

La Plagne is the heart of Paradiski, France's second-largest ski area, with 425 km of linked pistes. It spreads across ten high-altitude villages between 1,250 and 2,100 m, crowned by the Bellecôte glacier at 3,250 m — reliable snow from December to April and a 360° panorama over the Vanoise. The double-decker Vanoise Express cable car crosses the valley in five minutes, joining La Plagne to Les Arcs and opening up the whole of Paradiski on a single pass.

The village

The high-altitude villages — Plagne Centre (the hub), car-free Belle Plagne, Aime 2000 with its 'ocean liner of the snows' building, Plagne Soleil, Villages, Bellecôte and Plagne 1800 — were purpose-built for door-to-piste skiing, almost all above 1,800 m. Lower down, nestled in the forest, sit the traditional Savoyard villages of Montchavin, Les Coches, Montalbert and Champagny-en-Vanoise, with the stone-and-timber charm the planned resorts lack. The choice runs from ski-in/ski-out convenience to authentic village character — all within the same area.
