The village

The high-altitude villages (1600/1800/1950/2000) are ski-in/ski-out with reliable snow: Arc 1800 is the largest and liveliest, a hub of shops and après-ski, while the wooded Arc 1600 from 1968 is the most practical for those arriving by train. In the valley, Bourg-Saint-Maurice at 810 m is the gateway and the most economical option off the pistes.
