Les Menuires is the best-value doorway into the world's largest lift-linked ski domain — Les 3 Vallées (~600 km). Purpose-built at 1,850 m in the 1960s-70s, it embraces period concrete over chalet charm, but the logic is unbeatable: ski-in/ski-out for everyone, two gondolas leaving the same snowfront (Roc 1 and Pointe de la Masse, up to 2,800 m) and dependable snow — 85% of the domain sits above 1,800 m. Reached via Moûtiers plus a ~40-minute S63 bus.

The village
The village is unapologetic 1960s-70s functionalism — at La Croisette, shops, restaurants and hotels share one indoor gallery that opens straight onto the snow. Newer quartiers (Les Bruyères, Reberty) bring wood and a softer scale; old Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, down the valley, supplies the postcard the top lacks. It suits families and mileage-hungry skiers: free beginner carpets, ski-in/ski-out residences and unpretentious raclette.
